Marc Mezgolits, geboren 1990 in Wien, griff erstmals mit 14 Jahren zur Bassgitarre und hatte mit 16 seine erste professionelle Studioaufnahme. Erst mit 17 nahm er seine ersten Privatstunden und begann 2010 sein Bachelorstudium Jazz-Bass/E-Bass am Konservatorium Wien Privatuniversität in der Klasse von Uli Langthaler.

Der junge E-Bassist spielte u.A. mit Andy Middleton, Hans Feigenwinter, Adrian Mears, Jonas Burgwinkel, Chris Wiesendanger und dem European Jazz Orchestra 2012 und hat mit verschiedenen Formationen erfolgreich an Wettbewerben teilgenommen (u.A. den ersten Preis des Keep An Eye Jazzaward mit der Focusyearband 2018/19).

Mezgolits hat im September 2016 sein Masterstudium am Jazzcampus Basel bei André Buser und Wolfgang Muthspiel mit Auszeichnung im Hauptfach abgeschlossen.
Inzwischen war der junge Musiker Mitglied der Focusyearband 2018/19 - ein einjähriges Programm, in welchem eine Band ausgewählter Musiker zusammenarbeiten, aufnehmen und mit Grössen des Jazz wie unter Anderem Ambrose Akinmusire, Norma Winstone, Julian Lage oder Dave Liebman arbeiten und auftreten. Mezgolits ist als freischaffender Musiker und als Lehrperson für E-Bass an der "Musikschule Konservatorium Bern" tätig und ist u.a. Mitglied von Christian Muthspiels "Orjazztra"

Marc Mezgolits, born 1990 in Vienna, started playing the bass guitar at the age of 14 and recorded his first length studio album with 16. The by then self-taught musician started taking private lessons with 17 and in 2010 he began his studies for a bachelor degree for jazz-bass/electric bass at the „Konservatorium Wien Privatuniversität“ with Uli Langthaler.

The young bass player has shared the stage with the likes of Andy Middleton, Hans Feigenwinter, Adrian Mears, Jonas Burgwinkel, Chris Wiesendanger as well as the European Jazz Orchestra 2012 and has succesfully participated in competitions with different ensembles (for example Audience-Award of the Fidelio competition of the vienese conservatory 2012 with the ensemble „Electric Echo: In and Out of Order“).

Mezgolits finished his master studies at the Jazzcampus Basel with André Buser and Wolfgang Muthspiel with honors in his major subject.

In the meantime, the young musician has participated in the "Focsyear 2018/19", a one year programme in which a group of selected musicians work together, record and rehearse and play with jazz greats such as Ambrose Akinmusire, Norma Winstone, Julian Lage or Dave Liebman. As of now, Mezgolits is working as a freelance musician and instructor for electric bass at "Musikschule Konservatorium Bern" and is, amongst other groups, member of Christian Muthspiel's "Orjazztra".
